A NOTE ABOUT OUR DIRECTOR
HEATHER SCHMULIAN OWNER/DIRECTOR
Heather arrived in the USA in 2001 from South Africa where she ran one of the largest drama schools in the country. Since arriving in Boca she has been instrumental in setting up an Interdisciplinary Arts Program for Nova Southeastern University school and worked as director of the theater department for American Heritage Boca-Delray Pre-K through 12th grade. In 2005 Heather started, and continues, to run the drama enrichment program at Donna Klein Jewish Academy, all the in school drama programs at Boca Prep International school from Pre-K 3 through 12th grade (Including both the Junior and Senior thespian troupes and the 12th grade IB Theater diploma) and facilitates all the theater classes for Hebrew Academy.
In 2006 Heather also started her own private school that is open to students from all schools called DRAMA-WORKS. This program runs in the afternoon through the school year and as a musical theater camp in the summer.
Heather has directed numerous Drama and Musical Theater camps. Some of her early USA shows include: Annie JR, Little Shop Of Horrors, How to Eat Like A Child, Free To Be You And Me….
Some of the more recent shows include: The Little Mermaid, Alice In Wonderland, Little Stars, Schoolhouse Rock Live JR, Space Pirates,Seussical Jr, Willie Wonka, Wizard Of Oz Youth Version, The Broadway Junior Revue - Pure Imagination....
Heather is particularly proud of her creative workshopped productions which are devised through improvisation and brainstorming with the cast. Highlights include the shows: Dare To Dream, Hands, Mirrors.
Theater-in-education productions include: The American Revolution, Project Peace, We Come From Everywhere and Character Matters.
Heather’s first professional production in the USA “The False Witness” by Robert M Krakow.
HEATHER SCHMULIAN’S DRAMA-WORKS, a school for acting, drama and communication skills, opened September 2006, caters for students of all ages. The school runs weekly classes through the school year and an exciting Musical Theater Camp in the summer.
